Therapy Dog Training

Our Therapy Dog Training program is specifically designed to assist you and your dog in every stage of the training and process to become a Certified Therapy Team! If there is not a class available to fit your schedule, we will be glad to assist you through private training as well. We do require clients to have taken the Pre-Therapy Training Class before joining the Therapy Certificaion Class, and also require previous training (through classes or private lessons) with A Dog’s Life before joning the Pre-Therapy Training Class.

Pre-Therapy Training Class

This 6 week course is for people and dogs that are working toward a therapy certification, but still need help strengthening leash skills, solidifying stays, and perfecting greetings. We will also cover certain skills and cues necessary for therapy work.

Previous class experience or private training with A Dog’s Life is required.

Therapy Certification Class

In this 6 week course you and your dog will learn the skills, steps and information needed to become a certified therapy dog team. Class will take place in various public locations to practice your skills in real-life situations and with real-life distractions. The final week will include the evaluation required to become certified. Dogs entering class must have taken the Pre-Therapy Training Class, passed a Canine Good Citizen test, or done private training with A Dog’s Life.
